My First Time
INSOMNIA Berlin is a sex-positive space where everything is possible — but nothing is required. Here's everything you need to know before your first visit. Our Event Guide helps you choose the right event.
Sex-positivity & Consent
Sex-positivity means accepting and respecting sexuality in all its forms — without shame, without judgment. The guiding principle at INSOMNIA: everything is allowed, nothing is required. Every person decides for themselves what they want and what they don't. Consent is non-negotiable.
Who is INSOMNIA for?
As a Couple
Talk beforehand — about desires, limits, taboos, and jealousy. INSOMNIA is not about romance, it's about lust and variety. Come without pressure and without concrete expectations. What happens, happens — or it doesn't. The key: both of you need to feel comfortable.
As a Woman
Choose your event based on your preferences. The active consent principle applies everywhere. At weekend events (Sexpositive), there's a couples-only area on the gallery. An awareness team is always on site — approach them any time you feel uncomfortable.
As a Man
Seven rules for men at INSOMNIA:
- Start at the bar — light conversation first, no direct approach.
- Respect the relationship — engage both partners, not just one.
- Observe erotic scenes discreetly — 2 metre distance, read the signals.
- Self-pleasure is allowed when discreet and respectful.
- Accept limits — "no" means no. Say thank you and move on.
- Discretion — what happens at INSOMNIA stays at INSOMNIA.
- Hygiene — shower before coming, wash hands, use condoms.
Queer Community
INSOMNIA is very queer-friendly at weekends. Sexpositive events are great for bisexual encounters. BDSM events are welcoming for all orientations and identities.
Hygiene & Safety
Condoms, gloves, and lube are available throughout the club and at the bar, free of charge. Disposal bins are located under the black tables. Towels, shower gel, and changing facilities are provided.
